Scary image litigation?

This is pretty scary,

As people in our office are aware coz we’ve been shouting about it, certain stock image libraries are suing left right and centre about images on websites, particularly from sxc. So if you aren’t sure you have the rights for any images on your websites, best make sure you have or remove them before the bots hunt you down and charge you £1500 for a teensy thumbnail. It seems to be a big part of their business model, they buy up image gallerys after people have already used them as well and sue them afterwards.

Here are some forum posts about it.

Apparently this one is too.

So be aware.

Apparently its not illegal and they are totally within their rights.

Colours for everyone!

Some people have shown interest in my colour links, and want to get in on the colour knowledge. :)

http://www.colorjack.com/studio/ - I think it only works in firefox, because it uses clever things that IE can’t handle.

http://www.vischeck.com/vischeck/vischeckURL.php - Simulates colour blindness, well worth checking out if you are using green or red on your sites.

http://www.colourlovers.com/ - A web 2.0 website for people who love colours.

Now its all over and its back to work…. sigh ;)

I hope a good christmas was had by all, and a happy new year…. and that norovirus didn’t get you. Or hypochondria about getting it after you saw it on the news.

So I have been doodling loads over christmas…but the gorram scanner has packed it in! However I have found some that I hadn’t uploaded, so check out my 2007 sketchbook. I’ll have to start a new one soon!

I got so many inspiring things for christmas; Tekkon Kinkreet, easily the best film I saw last year, a couple of graphic novels illustrated by Ashley Wood, who is second only in my book to Ben Templesmith. I love his stuff. It makes me want to be better.

I have made loads of new years resolutions, apart from completing everything in this previous post… and the usual being healthier, etc… I have decided to try and find websites that might add to my artistic mind tank and to yours if thats your sort of thing ;) Maybe someone might find them useful, and it might make this blog a touch more interesting ;)

Heres my first and foremost link…. Drawn.ca. It never fails to be easily the best portal to the world of drawing on the entire internet. Its always got something new and interesting to check out. I look at it everyday.

Also check out vinyl pulse for fun to do with toys.
