Our company flagship website that we all had a little bit to do with has been nominated for a webby award! Martin and Lee worked on it most and it was designed by some posh agency… but I did design the layouts on some of the pages! So I feel proud of all the guys that worked really hard on it from work, (and a little 1% bit proud of myself) anyway, if you can be bothered to log in, go vote for golakes in the tourism category of the webby awards!

As people in our office are aware coz we’ve been shouting about it, certain stock image libraries are suing left right and centre about images on websites, particularly from sxc. So if you aren’t sure you have the rights for any images on your websites, best make sure you have or remove them before the bots hunt you down and charge you £1500 for a teensy thumbnail. It seems to be a big part of their business model, they buy up image gallerys after people have already used them as well and sue them afterwards.

Apparently its not illegal and they are totally within their rights.

I made all the pngs into gifs, and made sure that everything was floated so that it suits IE6. IE6 is a crap browser, and I kind of deliberately didn’t support it. But I gave in, because it did look dog ugly. It has made it look slightly less nice in firefox. But thems the breaks. I spend all day at work making things work in the millions of different browsers that are out there, and just once I didn’t want to have to worry! lol.

Also I have decided to make this site more web designy, it was always my escape from that, all about the illustration, but lately my passion in web design has been rekindled due to the upcoming web 2.0. SO it would be nice to reach my high website standards with my own website! Lol.

If you are looking at this using IE 6, please at least consider firefox… Its just best at everything.

This website has come such a long way since I first started doing it. I want everyone to see it now, not just people who use a browser I have a preference for. lol.

I found a little web 2.0 thing called tumblr, which is like the simplest most basic blog in the world. So I have created an online pinboard.
